Napoleon Hill published two books on the theme. The first, The Law of Success in 16 Lessons (1928), directly and repeatedly references the Law of Attraction and proposes that it operates by use of radio waves transmitted by the brain. The second, Think and Grow Rich (1937), went on to sell 100 million copies by 2015.[60] Hill insisted on the importance of controlling one's own thoughts in order to achieve success, as well as the energy that thoughts have and their ability to attract other thoughts. He mentions a "secret" to success and promises to indirectly describe it at least once in every chapter. It is never named and he says that discovering it on one's own is far more beneficial. Many people have argued over what it[61] actually is, some claim it's the Law of Attraction. Hill states the "secret" is mentioned no fewer than a hundred times, yet reference to "attract" is used less than 30 times in the text. He further claims that people can obtain what they desire through thought of definite purpose.[62]
And they'll try to use the "LoA" as a way to get more 'things' which really just satisfies ones ego and comes from a place of lack. They use it as a tool, as a means to an end. But it's not a tool, it's more of a "this is how it works" and being consciously aware of how it works can be pretty powerful, just not *necessarily* in the way many would think (red lamborghinis and such).
We earn money in exchange for offering something of value. You have incredible gifts and talents that add value to the world. Likely, you take most of them for granted (probably the most marketable ones!) So think about what people ask you for help with, what people thank you for, and what people ask you for advice about most often. Could there be a side hustle in there somewhere? Are you great at coaching people on their careers and helping them buff up their resumes? Have you been doing this for free for years? Hang up a shingle and ask your friends who you’ve helped for free to spread the word about your new career coaching service. If you’re stuck in terms of starting something on your own as a freelancer, pick up a few hours at a local seasonal place that needs the extra hands short-term like L.L. Bean around the holidays. (That’s a Maine example for you.) If you open your eyes to the possibilities, there are always ways to add more value around you. And you can always receive value in return (financial and otherwise) when you start giving it out. Keep your eyes open, ask around, and the opportunities will appear.
The ability to imagine something better is the fuel of all great invention, change or innovation in life. Without it, we are essentially floating adrift without a compass. Google is the grand champion of visualizing dreams, and making them happen. They give their managers 20 percent time off -- just to work on personal dream projects. Chade-Meng Tan transformed his engineering job to become their official "Head of Personal Growth" and teaches a Mindfulness based Emotional Intelligence course for employees. Meng hopes to see every workplace in the world become "a drinking fountain for happiness and enlightenment."
Simply put, the Law of Attraction is the ability to attract into our lives whatever we are focusing on. It is believed that regardless of age, nationality or religious belief, we are all susceptible to the laws which govern the Universe, including the Law of Attraction. It is the Law of Attraction which uses the power of the mind to translate whatever is in our thoughts and materialize them into reality. In basic terms, all thoughts turn into things eventually. If you focus on negative doom and gloom you will remain under that cloud. If you focus on positive thoughts and have goals that you aim to achieve you will find a way to achieve them with massive action.

When things aren’t going well, the Law of Attraction is something that should be paid attention to because you attract to you energies that are a reflection of what’s going on inside you. To be more specific, what’s going on outside is actually a barometer for how things are on the inside. This is the best time to focus in on what you are attracting to you as a pattern and create a pattern interrupt.
Avoid pinning the idea to a specific person, a specific house, a specific job, etc. If you are looking to manifest a relationship, define the relationship not the person you think you would like to be in the relationship with. If you are looking for a new home define the home walk through it room by room in your mind, define the characteristics of the neighborhood or climate. Let the Universe identify who the person is or what place exactly meets the characteristics you have identified. Once you have completed your definition of your dream, you have placed your order with the Universe. Surrender to the process, trust in the universal wisdom. Certainly define your dream very specifically down to the details and let go, do not try to control the: who what where when and how your dream will materialize. Your job is to define the dream and fuel it, which brings us to step 2.
Law of attraction practiced prior to the 1800s. If you are referring to arcane practices in Babylon and Biblical times that we have little knowledge of, I am aware and have looked at these. If there are some specific and relevant references I would be interested in hearing them. As you believe in a LOA, most of what you hear will be filtered through this lens. As I now do not, most of what I hear will be seen through that lens.
Set your manifesting goal. Get crystal clear on exactly what you would like to create, do, be, have, or experience. Then work those imagination muscles. What would it look like if you already had that, if you were already living it? What would surround you? Who would be with you? What would you wear? What would your bank account reflect? How would you spend your time?
You have set your intention and know what you want from the universe, so now you must take action to ensure that your dream is manifested into a reality. If you set your goal and then put it to the back of your mind, it will never become a reality. Remember, you are what you give your attention to. Therefore, you should try to fuel your dream with as much positive attention as possible.
Gratitude. Feel the gratitude of what it feels like when your dreams come to fruition. Your feelings are what is fueling the manifestation process. What does it feel like when you are living your dreams? Spend time visualizing what it is like to live your dreams and feel that gratitude, joy, love, bliss and all the other good stuff. Let this energy rocket you closer to your manifestations.
From the moment we’re born, every single one of us receives societal programming: parental, media, peer. Very few of us have a true idea of what our authentic essence is and what it truly desires to thrive. Manifesting starts with taking deep inventory of that programming we’re raised with, then getting into your authentic essence and asking yourself what you truly want—and, finally, breaking the mold of what limits you from achieving that.
