Neil, I have never heard a so called "doctor" speak so unprofessionally. I'm sure you are aware of the certain psychology that enables some people to make certain remarks behind the safety of their computer? If not, you would do well to look it up. It is evident that you are feeling defensive enough about this subject to make such immature comments, very telling indeed.
Based on what the mystery man taught me, and my study of numerous other approaches, I believe that three essential elements need to be included for effective manifestation. The reason many “law of attraction” teachings and techniques fall short of changing people’s lives in sustainable and measurable ways is that they fail to embrace all three elements. I am convinced that all three of these factors need to be addressed in order for each of us to become a powerful creator.
Imagine you dreamed that you went to the store, and while in the checkout line realized that you were naked. The manifest content of this dream is the actual event: being naked in the line at the store. However, being naked in public (a common dream) often represents feelings of vulnerability. Those feelings - the deeper meaning of the dream - are latent content.

We could go back and forth for years about this since your beliefs are based on faith and mine are based on proven effectiveness. You have faith in a system that sometimes seems to work for you and when it doesn't you adapt your thinking to say, this is obviously good for me and that's why I'm attracting it. I would rather make my list of goals based on my values and principles and attain them in an inspired (by a more complete visualization method) in an action-based system where I am in control..
Freud believed that uncovering the true meaning of his patients' dreams could help them overcome problems and fears in their lives. The manifest content is the literal interpretation of the dream, with no hidden meaning uncovered. He reasoned that people who were experiencing conflict in their lives may bury their true issues within the latent content of dreams as a way to avoid anxiety. According to Freud, this method of deciphering dreams allowed people to uncover issues or memories that are too painful for the person to address when they are conscious. He believed that if he was able to move past the manifest content of a person's dream that held no deeper meaning and discover the true meaning of the latent content, he would be able to understand the conflict that the person is experiencing and work past it with them.
“Your manifesting results comprise a chain with a zillion tiny links—moments, experiences, conversations, physical objects, and coinciding events—all leading up to what you'd consider "the finished product" or the goal achieved. Be open to recognizing and appreciating every link. Normally the mind glosses, or even steamrollers, over them, discounting them as stupid, unimportant, too-little-too-late, irrelevant or uninteresting.”

You are describing how it is desirable to have the good and bad. Death is good. Aging is good. Disease is good. I don't necessarily disagree with your premise. However, these are not the things that people typically want or desire to fill their lives. When you talk about creation and destruction being natural phenomenon, I agree. But invoking the law of attraction should stop the destruction part if that's what I want to attract. This is irrespective of it being objectively good or bad.
Emmet Fox wrote about metaphysics and the power of prayer in essays and books. His teachings are founded in Christianity and bible stories. He cites Jesus Christ as being the greatest teacher of metaphysics who ever lived and explains that thoughts are our most important emanation, more important than what we say or what we do. In the books Power Through Constructive Thinking and Find and Use your Inner Power Fox speaks about "building the mental equivalent of what you want and to expunge those that you don't".
People often ask me how I managed to travel to so many fabulous places. The truth is, at one point it was even a mystery to me. But after manifesting what seemed to me as random, last minute trips to Hawaii time and time again, I began to suspect that there was something more going on. Either I was just really good at manifesting trips to Hawaii or I was tapping into something magical. I decided to test out my manifesting skills and up the ante. If I can manifest trips to Hawaii, why not Europe? And sure enough — Voila! I ended up on the trip of a lifetime to Paris and the Amalfi Coast less than a month later!
Hermeticism influenced the development of European thought in the Renaissance. Its ideas were transmitted partly through alchemy. In the 18th century, Franz Mesmer studied the works of alchemists such as Paracelsus and van Helmont. Van Helmont was a 17th-century Flemish physician who proclaimed the curative powers of the imagination. This lead Mesmer to develop his ideas about Animal magnetism which Phineas Quimby, the founder of New Thought, studied.
How To The Law Of Attraction
I’m answering a question I get asked IRL a lot: How to manifest anything you desire in life? Yup, you read that right, manifest anything in your life! Sound to good to be true? Well it isn’t! I’ve lived the seven steps I am going to share with you today and they really have allowed me to manifest anything I desire in life! I promise that if you practice them and make them a part of your lifestyle, you will see the same results! But you really have to work them!
If the above paragraph sounds similar to what you are facing, then you’re in luck. In this post, we are going to discuss steps you can take to help manifest just about anything you could want. No, these are not magic rituals that will require some human sacrifice. These are actionable steps that can help guide you through the manifestation process. So, if you’re ready, let’s get started.
Before getting into asking the Universe to deliver and all that jazz, you have to get rid of all the things holding you back. We all were given messages as children. Some were related to our careers or finances or relationships, and we internalized those messages. These messages allowed us to create trust with the Universe (re: faith) or fear that we will never have or be good enough. Before you can truly make that vision you had come true, you need to acknowledge all the things holding you back.
At some point in chasing our dreams, we need to call ourselves out on behaviors that aren't in alignment with our goals. If your dream is to lose 20 pounds then you have to call yourself out on constant snacking by looking at the ‘why' behind the behavior. Conquer your fears, doubts, or hidden negative beliefs with the heart of a gladiator. Pretend that it is your job to figure out why you are sabotaging your dreams.
You literally get to use your mind to transform your entire life from the inside out. This is a unique secret that was shared with the world many years ago in “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrnes, who made it applicable to our daily lives. In essence, she showed the world with other teachers of this powerful law — The Law of Attraction — that we can simply have whatever it is we want. Byrnes made it clear that it is up to us to get it through how we train our inner world.
Great article Neil! The biggest misconception about the law of attraction is people just think all you need to do is visualize and you will get what you want,we all have limiting beliefs which are chains holding us back from manifesting what we want,we’ve gotten these limiting beliefs when we were young from our parents, friends, relatives ,e.g if you’ve always been told by your parents “money doesnt grow on trees” and that becomes a deep rooted limiting belief ,its going to be hard to visualize and attract money into your life unless you get rid of the limiting beliefs, I discovered a method from a blog that showed me how to get rid of any limiting beliefs that you may have and started attracting what i wanted in just a few days ,here's the link if you want to learn how to do the same: instantlawofattraction.com/law-of-attraction-breakthrough/
Show gratitude. Write down all the things the Universe has given you. Be thankful for what you already have and be thankful for all the things the Universe has given you. The Universe has done a lot of things for us. Paying the Universe back with some gratitude will motivate the Universe to do even more things and will draw more things into your life. If you were once bullied and that person stopped, that's one thing to be thankful for. If the person you're crushing on likes you back, or doesn't but they didn't send their lover out to hurt you, that's another thing to thank the Universe for. You should also thank the Universe for this process too. Showing gratitude will turbo boost the Universe to manifest your request faster.
The law of attraction (LOA) is the belief that the universe creates and provides for you that which your thoughts are focused on. It is believed by many to be a universal law by which “Like Always Attracts like.” The results of positive thoughts are always positive consequences. The same holds true for negative thoughts always leading to bad outcomes. But the LOA is much more than generalizations; thinking about red Lamborghinis will bring you red Lamborghinis – always. To the believers, questioning the validity of the LOA is akin to heresy and blasphemy; it creates religious fervor. To the uninitiated, it may seem silly to discuss even the possibility that such a law could exist.
I am trained as a "hard science" PhD in Pharmacology and do understand scientific method. The LOA is not based on scientific method and the erroneous conclusions in metaphysics are based on incorrect scientific assumptions. These assumptions may have seemed reasonable in the 1800s that there was no air around us, only ether and that thoughts only transmit through ether. Perhaps this assumption is correct, however we are not surrounded by ether.
Undoubtedly, there will be moments when you will wonder if manifesting will work and can frustrate you, make you impatient, and discourage you. If you find yourself feeling like this, it means you are having trust issues with the manifesting process. You’re inadvertently telling the universe you want to prove the process doesn’t work. This, in turn, causes experiences that will keep you stuck in that mindset. Manifesting only works when you believe in and trust the process.
Creative visualization is a cornerstone of using the Law of Attraction, and meditative exercises are part of this process. For example, you are encouraged to spend 10-15 minutes a day on building an increasingly detailed image of the life you want to develop. However, visualization actually extends far beyond these mental pictures, and can be practiced in concrete ways every day. For example, you will learn writing exercises here on our site and artistic approaches that focus on externalizing your goals and making them more real. You can be as creative in your visualization process as you like, and trying out the basic skills may inspire you to come up with unique methods that are even more effective.

From the moment we’re born, every single one of us receives societal programming: parental, media, peer. Very few of us have a true idea of what our authentic essence is and what it truly desires to thrive. Manifesting starts with taking deep inventory of that programming we’re raised with, then getting into your authentic essence and asking yourself what you truly want—and, finally, breaking the mold of what limits you from achieving that.
