I initially purchased this book for my husband and it does offer some interesting reading material, just not really what I thought it would be after reading so many glowing reviews about the book. Clearly, one does have to be open-minded when reading this book, but also take it all with a grain of salt. It more reminds me of "The Secret" and all of it's hype when it was so popular. According to my understanding of the basic concepts of the book is that everything that happens or lack there of begins in our own minds. Yes, true, that "as so a man think, he becomes". The value of this book is in promoting the idea that you have more control over your life than you think. The mind is capable of a lot, including how your body lives, how you present yourself to other people, etc. When you have a positive train of thought, you will have better health, better prosperity and better life in general. That simply is true and cannot be denied. I think this book is a good stepping stone on where to begin, but is seems reminiscent of Napoleon Hill's, "Think and Grow Rich," or James Allen's, "As a Man Thinketh,". What the book doesn't tell you is that when negative things happen to you, your positive attitude can turn those things into far less tragic events. There are other books that will make this more clear.

But it’s a practice, a daily one, to produce nectar (joy) from what’s in front of you as you keep building and climbing. This is what keeps you positive and attracting. It’s like pedaling a bike. When you want something so bad, whether it’s your own business, love, a better marriage, whatever it is, and you get so obsessed with wanting it that you won’t allow yourself to be happy unless you obtain it, you go through life in a desparate lower frequency state. This desperation throws you into a Pseudo Self. You start living outside in instead of inside out. Your gifts become dimmed which means you become less potent. You pack less punch in this world. You also become angry and resentful. So your state changes and your energy beomes low. You then start go through life crossing fingers and hoping. The longer this happens, the less you believe. And if you don’t believe, you won’t put any action behind building anything. Now you watch others build their dreams and become a spectator. Sound familiar? Basically, you give up. Then you hear about a fast easy concept that can save you. There’s a chance you can still get what you want! A vine to pull you out of your quicksand. Of course you’re going to jump on that train.

If you are constantly worried about bad things happening, or negative outcomes, then you are using the law of attraction against yourself. You see, if your mind is focused on what you don’t have, or that things aren’t working as quickly as you’d like, you will miss out on the small victories. Celebrate those small wins! You have to acknowledge the victories if you want to continue to find trust and faith in the process. Keep your eyes, ears, and heart open to signs from the Universe that it has your back. It could be someone acknowledging a change in you, a quote on social media that was exactly what you needed to hear that day, or even a smile from a stranger that warms your heart. Stay open, be present, and take note.
Write your wish down. Start with "I am so happy and grateful now that..." and finish the sentence (or paragraph) telling the Universe what it is that you want. Write it in the present tense as if you have it right now. Avoid negation terms (see Warnings for more on this). Every day until your wish comes true, close your eyes and imagine your desire as if it's happening right now and see your imagination turning more clearer.

There are no accidents.” (Esther Hicks).
Throw emotion and energy into everything you do. Even negative emotions can be transmuted into positive. This is a great book. But it doesn't really get into "The Secret BEHIND The Secret" so-to-speak. "The Master Key System" by Charles F. Haanel still is, and will ALWAYS be, the greatest book on this subject that has ever existed. It is "one stop shopping" and explains it all in a very simple and easy-to-read book that is almost a hundred years old. This book was the third I got from Esther and Jerry Hicks, and was not a bad read for what I knew at the time. But "The Master Key System" was TRULY the life-transforming book I needed to read. And THAT was the one that changed my life. This one goes into WHAT The Law of Attraction can do. But not really HOW or WHY.
Teachings on manifestation sometimes fail to dig deep enough into the subconscious roots of our current patterns of creation. If we don’t effectively unearth the hidden beliefs, habits and behavior patterns that may be blocking our ability to co-create, including the cultural programming we’ve absorbed from the world around us, we’ll constantly be working against ourselves. You can’t transform what you can’t see. And just as the subconscious mind can be the source of our biggest obstacles, it’s also the source of our greatest creative power. Simply encouraging people to “think more positive thoughts” only engages the conscious mind. I understand your scepticism about the LOA as I am someone who is open minded about it. However, I kind of lost confidence in your arguments when you started to present basic premises about the LOA incorrectly. For example, the primary focus of the law of attraction is not about material wealth. It is about self development, self love and the journey to self completeness within the context of mindfulness and positive thinking. This is a premise that is widely used within peer researched clinical therapies as well as many religions. Proponents of the law of attraction do not campaign for everyone to achieve selfish material gain and wealth. I have not heard or read anyone, no matter what level in their LOA journey that they are at. Their point is about the power of a positive mindset, a principle I am very much a supporter of and as I said, this is not unique to the LOA.
